ABOUT THE CLASSES
Creative Collage Labs
Collage classes 1-6 DO NOT need to be taken in order! If you have never collaged before I do recommend taking Foundations of Collage first, but it is not entirely necessary. All of the classes are open and approachable for both beginners and experienced collage levels.
Collage Lab #1 — Foundations of Collage
Discover the joy of collage in this beginner-friendly class designed to spark creativity and build confidence! We’ll experiment with layout and composition while exploring fun image transfer techniques that add texture, depth, and personality to your work. You’ll learn how to layer materials, balance visual elements, and turn simple papers and images into original pieces of art. These versatile techniques can be used to create finished works ready for framing, or to add unique touches to art journals, junk journals, and scrapbooking projects. No experience necessary—just come ready to play, explore, and let your creativity lead the way!
Collage Lab #2 — Color, Pattern & Mood
Explore the emotional and expressive power of collage through color, pattern, and atmosphere in this playful and beginner-friendly class! We’ll experiment with repetition, contrast, layering, and composition while creating artwork inspired by mood, memory, and personal expression. You’ll learn how colors and patterns can influence the feeling of a piece and discover ways to build visual harmony and movement through simple collage techniques. These approaches are perfect for framed artwork, art journals, creative sketchbooks, and mixed media projects. No experience necessary—just bring your curiosity and a willingness to experiment!
Collage Lab #3 — Surrealist Collage
Step into the unexpected in this imaginative collage class inspired by surrealism, dreams, and visual storytelling! We’ll combine unusual imagery, playful juxtapositions, and layered compositions to create artwork that feels mysterious, symbolic, and delightfully strange. Along the way, you’ll learn techniques for building narrative, creating visual contrast, and developing compositions that spark curiosity and imagination. This class encourages experimentation, intuition, and creative risk-taking in a relaxed and supportive environment. No experience necessary—just come ready to think outside the box and explore the unexpected!
Collage Lab #4 — Figure, Gesture & Abstraction
Discover expressive new ways to work with the human figure through collage, abstraction, and movement-based composition. In this class, we’ll simplify forms, explore gesture and silhouette, and experiment with layering shapes, textures, and imagery to create dynamic, energetic artwork. You’ll learn how to capture emotion and movement without focusing on realism, allowing for a more playful and intuitive creative process. These techniques are wonderful for mixed media art, visual journaling, and contemporary collage work. Some collage experience is helpful, but all adventurous beginners are welcome!
Collage Lab #5 — Image Transfer & Layering
Take your collage work to the next level by exploring image transfer techniques that add texture, depth, and visual complexity to your artwork. We’ll experiment with layering transferred images, transparent materials, paper ephemera, and mixed media elements to create richly detailed compositions with a beautifully weathered feel. You’ll learn how to combine imagery in unexpected ways while building surfaces full of depth and personality. These techniques are perfect for fine art collage, art journals, and mixed media experimentation. Beginners welcome, though some collage experience may be helpful!
Collage Lab #6 — Mixed Media Collage
Expand your collage practice by combining paper, paint, stamping, and layered mark-making techniques in this playful mixed media class! We’ll explore texture, contrast, transparency, and creative experimentation while building richly layered compositions full of movement and personality. You’ll learn how to integrate painted elements, stamps, patterns, and collage materials into cohesive works of art while developing your own visual style. This class is perfect for artists who enjoy process, experimentation, and getting a little messy in the best possible way. No experience necessary—just come ready to explore and create!
Collage Lab #7 — Personal Project Studio

Students will work on personal collage or mixed media projects of their choice while receiving individualized guidance, creative coaching, and supportive feedback throughout the session. This class encourages deeper exploration, experimentation, and refinement of your own artistic style and ideas. Whether you’re developing a finished piece, experimenting with new techniques, or building a series, this studio environment offers space, inspiration, and encouragement to grow your creative practice. Build confidence with watercolor by learning the essential brushwork techniques that bring paintings to life.
